पंचांग म्हणजे नुसतेच हिंदू कॅलेंडर नसून त्यात अगणित विषयांवर शास्त्रोक्त माहिती असते. आपल्याला पंचांग हे मुहूर्त निवडायला किंवा लग्नासाठी कुंडली जुळवण्यासाठी वापरतात, एवढेच माहित असते. पण प्रत्यक्षात पंचांगात याहीपेक्षा खूप सखोल, शास्त्रोक्त आणि प्रमाणित माहिती असते. जसे की, ग्रहणासंबंधी माहिती, सण-वारांची माहिती, कुठला सण कोणत्या मुहूर्तावर करावा, व्रत-वैकल्यांची माहिती आणि या व्यतिरिक्तही त्रिज्येष्ठचे नियम, नवरात्रीचे नियम, एका वर्षात कोणते सण करावेत, हे आणि अशा अनेक शंकांचे समाधान पंचांगात असते. त्यातील काही विषय मी येथे मांडत आहे.
अजून एक महत्त्वाची माहिती यात असते, ती म्हणजे ‘अशौच – सूतक’. कोणत्या नात्याला किती सूतक पाळावे याची संपूर्ण माहिती दरवर्षी पंचांगात असते. तीच माहिती मी येथे देत आहे.
Panchang is not just a Hindu calendar, but it contains scientific information on countless subjects. We only know that Panchang is used for choosing an auspicious time (Muhurta) or for matching horoscopes for marriage. But in reality, Panchang contains much deeper, scientific, and authentic information than this. For example, information regarding eclipses, information about festivals and days, which festival should be performed at which auspicious time, information about fasts and rituals, and besides this, the rules of Tri-jyestha, the rules of Navratri, which festivals to perform in a year, this and solutions to many such doubts are present in the Panchang. I am presenting some of those topics here.
Another important piece of information is present in it, which is ‘Ashoucha – Sutak’ (impurity period after birth or death). Complete information on how much Sutak should be observed for which relation is present in the Panchang every year. I am giving that same information here.
